Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new OctaneRender™ for Maya® Version 4
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2016, 2016.5, 2017 and 2018 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.

License upgrade

Unless you have a subscription license, you will have to upgrade your version 3 licenses to version 4. This upgrade is free and can be done via these 4 steps:

  1. Go to https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/purchase/
  2. Select "Upgrade" in the top menu.
  3. Click on "UPGRADE NOW" next to "Upgrade existing licenses to OctaneRender 4".
  4. Select the licenses you want to upgrade and confirm.

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 419.17 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Please read the new features implemented from Octane Standalone 4 version our blog post.

Changes since version 13.45:

  • Integrated the 4.05 rendering engine.
  • Fixed the bug: max. samples override did not work from command line in batch mode.

Hi Jim,

we have a issue insidde the plug while we are rendering on the farm images sequences with timewrap and without timewrap
we have this scene with "frames to pre-cache" set at 0, just to inform we use deadline and Command line mode aswell bacth render has the problem.

The problem is when Maya uses the expression to drive this texture sequences in some cases in random machines we get offset like the frame for
example 100 is loading at 100 and at 101 we have something like frame 200 load.

we use this expressions:

the default from the plug :
Code: Select all
octaneImageTexture1.frameExtension=frame

And when we have timewrap this one :
Code: Select all
octaneImageTexture1.frameExtension=time1.unwarpedTime

This happen with any scene with the imager on one scene set on deadline on multiple machines to render different parts of the animation.

Of corse Standalone doesn't have this problems. must be something with maya I think "frames to pre-cache" maybe when the scene is load in some cases doesn't have
time to run the expression for the rendering maybe... Not sure the reason behid

We did a work around export Orbx files and render on standalon but scenes are heavy and this take a lot process on the workflow.
Or this way which the best one we use Proxy orbx to load the sequence imager and apply this shader on the meshes inside maya works well as a rack for last minute but would be great
to take a look please

Best,
JO

Found a problem, if you use several reference models with UDIM, then when you open the saved scene, the textures are not loaded

Hi Kuzbasscot,

We are unable to replicate this issue.
Could you please share a sample scene through PM if there is any copyrighted material?

cheers
