I don't think it's expected really.. let's see what Abstrax will say about these results.

Also did you actually compare render time for the cards ? (it might be wrong Ms/sec )

and, just in case, did you already test standalone V3 ? if you have the same problem in V3 then the 1080 or the drivers are suspects.

I did not check render times but I will do that next.

I did check 1080 vs 780 in V3 using the demo version and the 1080 was faster Ms/sec but only by 25%. I'll make sure to do tests in both scenarios and check the time to the same sampling level and check the image quality at the end as well.

According to octanebench and this topic viewtopic.php?f=9&t=56108

octanebench score:
gtx780 ~= 80
gtx1070 ~= 120
gtx1080 ~= 140

So in V3 the 1080 should give you 75% more speed, not 25%.
(If your 780 is overclocked or is finally a 780 ti , that would make more sens)

And the V3octanebench used in this topic is unofficial modified V2 version so maybe it's biased.

yeah, maybe there's something amiss because I expected 75% as well. Maybe it'll get to then final samples level alot quicker and since I didn't factor that in, it's making my card look slower. I'll test it with the bench as well to amke sure everything is good with the card.

I tested it here:

a 1060GTX 6GB performed equal or sometimes a bit slower than a 780-TI in Maya 2016 SP5 with 7.20.1.

Indeed that's great news, thanks !
this is what was expected,
I think 780ti and 1060 both have similar octanebench score with V3.

So I guess the 1080 speed cut by half is specific to Itsallgood9 for some reason ...
