Changes since 20.4:

  • Implemented the support of variable-sized particles for Bifrost. Render settings are now moved to rendering section of Bifrost shape-node.
    - Simulated components (volume/SDF, particles, foam particles) are only enabled/rendered by Octane if the respective component's medium/material is connected in the "Octane" rollout of Bifrost node.
    - Because Octane engine does not support (at least so far) dynamic differently-sized voxels (like Bifrost does), only one deepest level of Bifrost simulation will be rendered by Octane.
    - Bifrost API has a bug - because of it in some cases SDF or volume component is rendered in a wrong position (while foam/particles are always in correct positions). If this happens, the only way to workaround it is to disable this volume/SDF component (unconnect Octane medium/material from a volume) and enable Bifrost meshing. This will only work for SDF though, because the volume obviously can not be rendered as a mesh. Bifrost developers confirmed this is a Bifrost problem. Not sure if they're going to fix it...

Known issues:

  • The MacOS version of Octane SDK is still not available.

I am able to export an orbx and this runs fine in the standalone
But no rendering view in octane viewer window
No errors in script or no freezes... just blue screen

Using Maya 2022.1

It’s a plane with a diffuse shader and a daylight environment.
Thats it.

Hi Peter,

Thank you..
we just tested with Maya 2022.2 + 2021rc2-20.5 and still can not replicate the blue screen!
Maybe related to the CUDA driver or some file went corrupt!

Please reinstall the latest Nvidia studio driver and can also try running the command: "sfc /scannow" in Admin mode command prompt

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

I should calrify "blue screen" this is in the ipr render window... not a blue screen windows crash.

So the scene file "plane, sphere, daylight env.

The hypershade renders a thumbnail so I believe the octane render engine is engaged and appropriately matched.

Plus the script editor says

We had no Octane errors! wondering if you are still using the 2021rc2-20.4 [BETA] viewtopic.php?f=109&t=78347
Would you please try reinstalling the OFM 2021rc2-20.5?

Hey Peter,

thanks for the confirmation.
could you please try running Octane Standalone (viewtopic.php?f=33&t=78516)?
Then please run our latest stable OFM viewtopic.php?f=109&t=78238

We are working on implementing 2021 RC3 and hope to release it asap!!
Please let us know how it goes.
