The thickness sliders seems to do nothing in the object Params. Hair is always super thin. H18, 2020.1.4

These parameters only work if the object doesn't have a "width" attribute. This attribute always overrides any other hair thickness parameter configured at the OBJ level.

OK, that makes sense. I see its created by the hairgen node where it can be changed or deleted, but its then modified by vellumsolver which always resets it to a tiny value. So you have to use attribute delete correct?

Yes, you need to delete this attribute using the attribute delete SOP.
