Curvature node => Opacity=>shadows wrong

Hi,
plugging a curvature node into the opacity channel renders the object shadows as full opaque or at least the shadows are off. I tried the specular material, which has the fake shadows option and that seems to render correctly.

All the best,
Wout

Played around with it some more, the fake shadow option does not render correctly either.

Hi WoutTgh,

This is a limitation in the Octane core. I asked one of our devs about this and he said it would require a lot more memory if we calculated dirt/curvature during shadow tracing.

Hi John,

thanks for checking! Is the same limitation responsible for it not working on instances ?

If you're referring to the shadows generated by instances with curvature in opacity, then yes, the same limitation applies.

No I meant the curvature node in general not working on instances.

That should work. Here is a test.
