Hey Juanjo are you aware of any memory issues with 2020.1.5.2? A scene that fails to render with both OOC on and off seems to render just fine in 2020.1.5 standalone. The same houdini session that fails to render, outputs a working orbx file that immediately works without closing houdini or any other application.

We are in centos 7.7 with GPU driver 450.66

We're going to try 2020.1.5.3 and see what happens. That fix sounds confusing but also potentially our issue.

Should we update to your 1.5.3?

This is really weird. The Octane core in Standalone 2020.1.5 and any of the 2020.1.5.x Houdini plugins is the same. Perhaps the problem is that somehow Houdini is using resources in the GPU (the final available VRAM perhaps) that is breaking Octane. Also be aware that perhaps some settings are not the same between the plugin and Standalone, like the out of core configuration, or the device's configuration (tonemapping, RTX enable, etc).

Hi Juanjo,

One thing I've been noticing when running the Octane IPR in Houdini is that if I accidentally ask the IPR to reload before Houdini is finished calculating my node tree it will completely freeze Houdini and require me to end the task. I just had this happen while QuadRemesher was running and I didn't notice that it was still processing when I clicked Refresh.

Hmm, but this is something really weird. How is Houdini live while it is still cooking a node tree? I'll try to reproduce this problem here.

The roadmap for the next week is to release both a new Octane 2020.1 and 2020.2 plugin builds for the new Houdini production build. It is a matter of few days.
