Hi!
This is a test build of OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ compiled with the Octane 3.08 RC3 core. This release is available for the Houdini 15.5/16.0/16.5 latest production builds on Windows x64, Linux gcc4.8 and OSX 10.11. This plugin is also compatible with Houdini 15.5/16.0/16.5 Indie. In this case, the plugin will have a 4k limited resolution while rendering sequences, and the scene export and cloud rendering features disabled.
Notes:
- Since we have to use CUDA toolkit 9.1 for that, you may have to update your graphics driver.
- This build supports all the new Octane 3.08 RC1 features, but be aware that the OSL feature is not ready yet. The OSL VOP nodes are there and work loading any osl file, but the GUI parameters and input pins for the osl shader are not available in the VOP nodes yet. This feature will be ready for the next plugin build.

- Improved deep image rendering by allowing a larger tolerance for merging deep point samples when hitting a surface at a grazing angle.
- Fixed various bugs in deep image rendering.
- Fixed dispersion in specular materials.
- Fixed halos and wrong brightness in PMC.
- Fixed incorrect loading of HDR images that overflow 16-bit floating point numbers.
- Fixed direct light contribution on back-faces of polygons with a glossy material.
- Fixed bug where some indirect reflections are added to the refraction pass.
- Fixed rendering hanging on Linux.
- Fixed GPU failure if a scene has displacement triangles with degenerated UV coordinates.
- Displacement vectors/normals are now "sanitized" to not lie exactly in the triangle plane, which caused GPUs to fail.
- Fixed triplanar and box mapping to not use the bump/normal mapped shading normal.
- Fixed unnecessary resending of all image textures to net render slaves if only some of the image textures changed.
- Fixed artifacts while rendering scattering media with the direct lighting kernel.
- Fixed reported error when a shader contains an unsupported type of metadata.
- Fixed various compilation errors when trying to parse OSL shaders with weird syntax.
- Fixed a watermark issue on OSX
