Yes, the plugin can render .orbx files exported from any Octane plugin or from the Standalone. There are still some limitations, but you can check this feature yourself using the Octane ORBX SOP node. You can export these .orbx proxy files from the Octane ROP node.

Thanks,

When copying an single object to lots points would it therefore use less VRAM, be more efficent using a .orbx file with the ORBX SOP, or is it better using the @instance meathod?

It should be more or less the same from the VRAM point of view. The .orbx file probably could be loaded faster, but finally, the used VRAM is going to be more or less the same.

Hello just one further question on VRAM usage - if im modelling a quite complex scene and planning to render different elements and then comp them together in post - will simply hiding 'Geo' nodes mean they still get passed in to VRAM?
So for maximum VRAM efficancy am i better contructing the scene and then creating multiple HIP files and actually deleting the mesh i dont need for that partictual render?

If you hide the geo nodes, they won't be extracted, so it is safe to use this workflow if you need to disable objects for rendering.
