Assign Shader to OBJ

Hello,

Can someone direct me to a tutorial how to apply octane shaders to imported OBJs. Drag and apply doesn't work so I assume there is a step I am missing.
I found some old posts saying you need to first assign a material the geometry but that's it.
I also can't find anything in the (otherwise awesome) manual.
Thank-you for your attention.

Probably the problem is that the imported .obj files already have a shop_material path primitive attribute pointing to a wrong material. You need to delete this attribute or modify it to point to the right Octane material.

Juanjo,

Thank-you for your quick reply.
I'm just learning Octane for Houdini so need a quickstart or an example hip(nc) file to study because I am having no success at all and there is nothing in the manual about this.
I'm just using a sphere created elsewhere with UVs but no materials and for the life of me I can't get an octane shader to work.
I tried to follow these posts from a few years ago but with no success: https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=60717 and https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=60011.
Even pictures of the networks would help.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Have you tried to delete the shop_materialpath primitive attribute?

Thanks,
