Multiple materials on a single object?

Is it possible to assign multiple octane materials to a single object via groups? Thanks in advance for the help!

For some background info, I'm currently a Modo+Octane user looking to learn houdini. One of the things I do commonly in Modo+Octane is to use many materials on a single mesh. Based on one of the Rohan Dalvi Houdini tutorials, I got the impression that this might not be possible.

Hi,

Yes, it is possible using the Material SOP that adds the shop_materialpath string attribute to any group of primitives pointing to the selected material.

Thanks,
