Hi all ,

I'm not able to get the option to use an offline license with the octane houdini plugin . I also own the modo plugin which does show this option on the login screen so I'm not sure if that is part of the issue? (as in that plugin is causing issues with the houdini one) .This is proving to be a real pain as my working machine is kept offline so I need to resolve this.Any ideas? using houdini indie btw.

Hi,

As far as I know, all the latest Octane 3.08 builds, including the final one, have the offline licensing option disabled. Probably your modo plugin is not using one of the latest plugin builds, or the plugin is not using one of the latest Octane 3.08 core builds.

Thanks for your reply but this might be a problem for me across the board then .As in I might need refunds for all as I did not buy into these plugins and app to have to be always connected to the net. Docs clearly state that this could work offline and had always been the case with modo hence me buying the houdini version a week or two ago.

Just checked on the modo version and it was 3.08 beta 6 that is installed with this option still available on it. So before I contact support do you know if this is going to be the way it is going forward across the board ?

Sorry, I'm not sure. Of course, I know that the offline licensing has been deprecated only temporally, but I'm not sure if it is going to be added again to a later 3.08 build, or directly to Octane 4.0.

Can you please send an email to [email protected] and [email protected] asking for this issue? I'm sure that the licensing team is going to give you more details about the state of the offline licensing.

You are right 3.08 doesn't have offline mode built-in.

However we are working on putting it back as soon as possible into the next 3.x release. We decided to release 3.08 without offline support so this wouldn't hold other features that many users had also been waiting for.

In the meantime please do not update and stay with 3.07 if you require offline access.

We are working on offline mode support in a point releasee for 3.08 coming shortly. We apologize for not noting this in the release notes. 3.07 does support offline mode as before.

How long will you take to lauch the 3.08 offline version??

It is a real nightmare for people who do not work connect to internet.

I think if we pay full price for software, we have the right of having offline licensing

Between this unfixed issue and no 3.08 currently planned for houdini 17 .... buyers remorse is really kicking in now for me . I had plenty of other options and now this is looking like a huge mistake going with octane over redshift , arnold or even vray.
