I'm on linux. I just reinstalled octane with houdini16.0.736 and its now giving an error. it looks like this:

Code: Select all
The attempted operation failed.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "Add_Octane_ROP", line 1, in <module>
File "/opt/hfs16.0.736/houdini/python2.7libs/roptoolutils.py", line 9, in createRenderNode
rop = hou.node('/out').createNode(rop_type, exact_type_name=True)
File "/opt/hfs16.0.736/houdini/python2.7libs/houpythonportion.py", line 1257, in decorator
return func(*args, **kwargs)
File "/opt/hfs16.0.736/houdini/python2.7libs/hou.py", line 6707, in createNode
return _hou.Node_createNode(*args, **kwargs)
OperationFailed: The attempted operation failed.
Invalid node type name

I extracted the octane files to /home/nathan/octane
my houdini file looks has there lines:
Code: Select all
HOUDINI_DSO_ERROR = 2
PATH = "/usr/redshift/bin;/home/nathan/octane/bin:$PATH"
HOUDINI_PATH = "/usr/redshift/redshift4houdini/16.0.705;/home/nathan/octane;&"

redshift is working althought I got this error for redshift the other day. And was given the suggestion to revert back to a previous version of my nvidia drivers. I have now tried nvida-387, nvida-384, and nvida-381 all with the same error.

Is the .env file not correct? I installed my nvida drivers with the linux mint driver manager so i assume they are installed correctly plus redshift seems to be fine.

what should i do try next.

thanks,
