Hey Juanjo,

Thanks a ton for taking all this time helping me!

I can launch Houdini fine now, but there's no trace of Octane when I open Houdini - no shelf, no menu etc.
Both paths are pointing to the plugin folder now and none to the standalone folder - is it supposed to be that way?

The PATH variable should point to the plugin folder, "bin" directory, and the HOUDINI_PATH variable must point to the plugin folder. The Standalone is not needed at atl.

Where do you have your plugin on your HD? Check that the paths are right in the houdini.env file.

Hi again Juanjgon,

I ran into a new issue and figured I might as well reuse this thread.

When rendering with Octane in Houdini it has been instantly crashing Hindie and been giving a "Fatal Error"-warning.

This was displayed in the console when I tried to render with the IPR.

"8536: Fatal error: Segmentation fault"

And this when I tried to do a normal render to disk.

"Warning: invalid .mplay_lock file detected
9660: Fatal error: Segmentation fault"

I'm really looking forward to starting to use Octane in Houdini so this is a real bummer.

Do you know what might be behind this?

Finally, what version of Houdini are you using and what version of the plugin do you have set in the houdini.env file paths?

Do you know if Octane standalone works fine on your system? Perhaps there is a problem with the system or the drivers. Also, can you please enable the log file in the plugin options panel to see if in the log there is any clue about the problem?

I'm using the Hindie 16.0.617 version.
The plugin-in is for 16.0.504.20 and the .env is pointing to that folder.

The standalone and the Maya-version works fine on my system, I've used both a lot the last few days - it's just Houdini that's acting up.

Where do I enable the log? Can't see any options in the Octane menu inside of Houdini.

But why are you using the 16.0.504.20 plugin? As I have said, it doesn't work with the latest Houdini production builds.

Please, check the houdini.env file that I have attached before. You need to use the 16.0.557 plugin build. Please, modify the plugin version in your houdini.env file.
