The tricks implemented in the plugins to support UDIMs rely on transforming the UV coords of the Image nodes - and this approach does not work with Normal and Displacement maps - so core engine support for UDIMs would be great.It's something we wanted to be sure we needed to do in the core (v.s plug-in layer) before we went ahead with it ourselves (BTW this feedback is great!). Since it is looking like this may end up being the best way to support this feature robustly, we'll review where it might best fit in with the rest of the 3.x roadmap.
