octane installation on OSX

Hello,

I've just installed Octane 3.03 on houdini 15.5.480, the installation seems to be ok, all Octane functions seem to be present but the ipr doesn't show up.
The Mplay IPR in the Octane options does nothing either, it just opens a black Mplay window.

I am on a MacBook Pro where octane works fine on C4d.

Thx a lot for your help.

The command line gives me this :

Houdini DSO error on '/Applications/Houdini 15.5.480/Octane_3.03.2.0_Houdini_15.5.480_OSX/dso/libtbb.dylib'
Missing version information.

then a dozen of errors like this :

ERROR: houdini.pref (90): Syntax error: syntax error, unexpected ',', expecting ';'

ERROR: houdini.pref (120): Syntax error: syntax error, unexpected ',', expecting ';'

then this:

*** OCTANE API MSG: CUDA error 2 on device 0: The API was unable to allocate enough memory to perform the requested operation.
*** OCTANE API MSG: -> failed to allocated device memory

thx a lot

Hi,

Currently only the MPlay IPR is available in the OSX version, but it should work fine. I'll test the plugin tomorrow in my OSX workstation to try to reproduce this problem.

Can be a problem with the houdini.env PATH variable? The houdini.pref errors are weird, and don't seems related to a problem with the plugin. Perhaps you should try to remove your houdini user config folder ($HOME/houdini15.5) and edit again the houdini.env file in clean preferences environment.

Thanks,

Hello, thanx for the answer,

I tried with deleting the user config without any success, but may be I am missing something.

If there is only the play ipr option available on osX, where should I find the common ipr buttons (to restart, relaunch, pause, focus, etc.) ?

Just in case my .env file looks like this :

HOUDINI_PATH = /Applications/Houdini 15.5.480/Octane_3.03.2.0_Houdini_15.5.480_OSX;&

HOUDINI_DSO_ERROR = 2

Thanx again for your answers.

I am testing the latest build here in OSX and all seems to work fine, and I don't have other reports about a problem like this.

So, is the IPR rendering the only problem that you have with the plugin? Can you render the final images from the ROP node? Are all the other plugin features (ROP node, VOP nodes, etc.) working fine?

Perhaps you have a problem with the Houdini installation. Can you please download and install the latest production build H15.5.523 and try the Octane plugin for this version?

About the MPlay IPR, you can reload the scene clicking over the IPR icon again. I'll add the picking functions as Houdini commands as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm running into a very similar issue.

Juanjo, could you please post your Packages json file or Houdini.env text exactly as it appears in your working installation of OS X?

Thank you!
