Ram Limitations?

Any limitations on scene size for ORC besides the poly limit? I see that amazon gpu instances only have 4gb gpu ram which is pretty much useless for production. Any info on orc's scene size limitations? I wonder when amazon plans to refresh its gpu lineup... im guessing when the pascal hpc line is released.
Cheers,
Shane

From what I understand it is also 4GB.
Intel quad core i5 @ 4.0 ghz | 8 gigs of Ram | Geforce GTX 470 - 1.25 gigs of Ram

hmmm thats a bummer.. I found this....http://www.hpcwire.com/2015/09/29/micro ... ure-cloud/
anybody using deadline for cloud rendering should be able to adopt these instances with enough effort.

We expect 12 GB+ VRAM renders to be possible on ORC next year for those that need this. There will be one thing in 3.0 which will help lower VRAM requirements, and that is the that the film buffer can be stored mostly in CPU memory. That is a huge savings for high res render jobs or normal renders with many concurrent passes.

Thanks Goldorak,
That sounds fantastic, AOV buffers are definitely a large chunk of vram... and that combined with 12gb ORC ram should be enough for just about everything.Im curious how nvlink will affect octane and vram limitations, perhaps my understanding is limited but it sounds like if you have two 12gb pascal gpus nvlink effectively makes it 24gb.. i wonder what dev's need to do to take advantage of this if thats the case.
On a side note for anyone reading this thread azure doesn't seem to provide access to those tesla machines in any practical manor for a small studio.
