Re: Motion Blur + Cloner (weird lines)

Looks to me like it's actually correct, because your clones are looping from the end and back to the beginning of the spline. Because of this, a clone with any given ID may be at both the beginning and the end of the spline during the frame exposure. You might be better off using a true particle ...

Re: Crashes on landscape animated scenes

It sounds like a cumulative memory use issue to me. I'm not a Max user, but you should be able to see the Octane Logs from your Octane Preferences. If so, it should be pretty clear in the log. You can also look at Octane Settings>Devices>Octane Device Settings to see how much memory is being ...

Re: How to Bake Octane Displacement Maps into Geometry?

For some context, Octane does its geometry generation and displacement on the GPU, after C4D has let go of the scene data. As far as C4D's export is concerned, Octane displacement doesn't exist. By switching to C4D's native displacement the export function can see the final form and save it ...

Re: Feature Request: Proxies (just like a Redshift Proxy)

Have you tried using Octane ORBX object or use built-in C4D Xref object?
I was about to bring up XRefs, too. They only work within C4D, but if you are not bouncing back and forth from Octane Render to C4D Plugin, they work pretty well. It takes some practice to get used to the loading/unloading ...

Re: Request: Proxys

*BUMP*

Still no proxies right? Would be so amazing to have something like the Red Shift Proxies. Especially when working in a team. If a product shader or model needs changes, export and overwrite the proxy, and it is changed in every scene which has a link to the proxy.

Since this is ...

Re: Checking VRAM usage and texture optimization

The Solaris implementation of Octane seems a bit wonky to me, and I haven't messed with it in a long time. If you can't find the Octane>Settings>Devices>Device Settings, you can try exporting to ORBX and opening your scene/texture object in Octane Render Studio. You should be able to export ORBX ...

Re: Missing OSL scripts

All the OSL scripts are still there, and can be found in the OSL node UI under Script Category/Script Presets, it's just that they are not auto-populated into the node as one would expect from the menu.

I'm aware that those scripts are available elsewhere and that doesn't have to mean that the ...

Re: Missing OSL scripts

The OSL scripts that are added from Create menu in Node Editor are empty.

I see the same behavior in Octane 2023.1.3_R4, C4D 2023.2.1

Re: Vram management

I have also been trying changing the texture 'import type' from auto to 16>8, my question is, as this doesn't seem to effect the texture noticeably so far, are there considerations i need to make, like don't do that if its a hero texture or something? It does seem to reduce memory usage abit, so ...

Re: Vram management

One thing I didn't see mentioned in this thread is that you can reduce the "Engine Runtime Data" portion of your VRAM requirements by reducing the Parallel Samples/Max Tile Samples from their default 16/32 in the kernel settings. The relatively modest scene I'm working on right now goes from using ...
