just got a RTX 3090 and Octane 4.05 is not working. :(
It shows me in the preference:
CUDA version: 11.10
Device: Gefroce RTX 3090 (compute model 8.6)
But at the bottom of the Viewport stands in red "no CUDA GPUs"
How can I now render my old Standalone files?
Same here! Luckily i kept one my old ...

Re: Nvidia 3000 series support
And one more question, since Octane X now supports AMD hardware, should we expect regular Windows Octane with AMD support as well?
We are all looking at upcoming Ampere cards, but AMD is about release their new stuff as well, with their own hardware raytracing units, rumored massive cache and so on ...

Re: Nvidia 3000 series support
regarding Out of Core, i have question of my own. Say you combine 24GB 3090 and 11GB 2080Ti (or 10GB 3080 or whichever GPU with smaller VRAM). Say you have a scene 18GB large. Does Octane now use 11GB of VRAM on both cards (including 3090, despite bigger VRAM) and then fills the rest with OOC, or ...

Re: Nvidia 3000 series support
I wouldn't hope that the graphics cards from AMD will be better than those from Nvidia. - Especially because of count of cuda cores.
the question for me, can i go with two 3080 and break the VRAM limit (10GB) by using the out of core option in octane?
I dont think the cuda core number is the ...

Re: Nvidia 3000 series support
The RTX speed up is scene dependent, so while 2019 havana scene, octane 1,2 and 3 splash screen scenes get 2-4x speed boost, that is not the case with the the simpler octane bench scenes like idea which is a light bulb in a room, and all shading, little tracing we can push to RT.

Re: Nvidia 3000 series support
And how does 3090 conpare to A100? Is it faster, both RTX on and off?
Can you share at least that?
BTW how is 2080 Ti with RTX on 350 OB points now? Was it not like 800? Or that was true only for that other Version of OB with scenes taxing RT Cores more? In other words, if the RT hardware is not ...

Re: How to enable NVLink in OR 2018.1 XB1 ?
I read in the FAQs that SLI is advised to be disabled for performance hits. Is that not the case anymore?
If your card supports NVLink and you have an NVLink bridge installed then its probably wise to have SLI turned on for memory pooling . Good question as to whether it has a performance hit ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 2020.1[current 2020.1x]
I want this. Mostly cause of RTX support - at last. Obviously other stuff is great too, but maybe not that needed for me, or i will have to learn to use it first.
Anyway, how do i get it? I see RENT and BUY option on the main page, what is the difference (in the context of Octane Render)? I looked ...

Re: Out of Core
Thank you for response. I reworked the scene, decreased the geometry size and separated it into several smaller chunks (OBJ files), so i can only use those, which are visible only on the rendered picture....so i would need to redo it back. Maybe i will try over the weekend and post then.
