For curiosity...

Will there be potential issues mixing kepler and maxwell architectures (use them in the same workstation)?
Couldn not see if this question was adressed elsewhere.

Thanks Octane team for an awesome product!!!

The GTX980 is supposed to be faster than the GTX780 Ti, I just wish this will also happen in Octane in the near future.

There should be no issues mixing GPUs, since each device is used independently of the other.

But it isn't. Nothing we can do about it. So don't expect a 980 to be faster than a Titan Black / 780 Ti. (Just check my signature ;) )

Too bad I didn't knew about this or I could have invested a bit more and buy a Titan Black. So what about the cards that will come next, like the GTX980 Ti or Titan 2 (rumors) that are expected to be launched in December or early 2015? These will also be Maxwell based right?

We don't know more than what you can find on the Internet and the rumors are that the "Titan 2" will be based on the Maxwell 2 architecture and have 24 instead of 16 SMM (multiprocessors). So lets wait and see.

Undo seems to clear the material instead of going a step back to the previous material.
Right click on the material icon and paste in a new material. Undo will just clear everything.

I am reporting a scene with 14% speed decrease, it is a normal interior arch viz scene, PT kernel, 6 IES lights, I can sand a scene to developers e-mail if needed.

19.7 vs 17.3 Msamples/pixel

And another one with 15% decrease, interior scene with moderate instancing

7.14 vs 6.09 Msamples/pixels

Third scene was exterior scene with extreme instancing (forest)
Here I got 7% increase in rendering speed

6.88 vs 7.34 Msamples/pixel

setup is:

6 TITANs and 1 TITAN Black in the main box
1 TITAN and 2 780 in the network node

15% slower?
Nvidia wants we buy or replace our gpus every year. CUDA will get slower and slower.
Otoy, please, pass to Embree or implement it.

Any news on Layer passes?

Really, really looking forward to testing this -- specifically when one object/material wraps around another and there is DOF... kind of on the edge of my seat and waiting with bated breath here...

Is this possibly going in the next DBR?
