3 VR questions

Hello Forum,

I am currently exploring the new possibilities of cardboard based VR in conjunction with octane rendered 360 deg Panoramas.

I render the panoramas in octane4rhino and then use the holodeck app together with google cardboard glasses and my galaxy note 3.

while I am amazed at the results in principle, I still have a few issues I would like to seek your advice...

1. when I look at my vr scene in the holodeck app, I can see stitching errors at the borders of the adjacent squares. what am i doing wrong? Is there a way to avoid it?

2. since I do not owe a samsung s6 or note4, I am forced to use the holodeck app, correct? Or is there another app you can recommend?

3. is there already a possibility (or another app...) to navigate / jump from panorama to panorama?

thank you for your feedback

best regards

Andreas

I might not have answers for 2nd & 3rd Qs, but for the first You have to remember not to use post processing effects in Octane to avoid those vissible seems for cube =)

Thanks for the suggestion glimpse, actually I am unsure if I used post effects at all in the renderings... however it looks more like some kind of offset effect, e.g. certain lines which should flow continously from square to square do not match at the edges of the adjacent squares...
Do you think this is due to using post effects?

We're working on ORBX viewer 2.0 for the Gear VR. once that is out this month, we'll look at getting it on other platforms, including WebVR and PC and generic mobile VR.

Hey,

I have built an app for both Google cardboard Android and iOS that uses renders done in Octane, vray etc using Spherical side by side. At present it is an in house app(ie the files need to be loaded and then a run time built), but if you have a specific project that you need to view I am sure we can set you up with it.

In the near future there will be a way to load your own files. And it will play videos too. (I have nearly completed this).

It also runs on GearVR and the Oculus.

Cheers

thank you very much for your offer! Right now I am only experimenting with these things but I think in the near future we will be able to use the technology for commercial projects.
Of course if you are interested, I can provide you with a few nice hires panorama renderings to test and / or present your app so we could maybe both have something to play with :-)

If you want I can do a few sphericals the next days for testing ( right now I only have the tested the cube mapped VRs...)

just write me a PM

best

Nice, will this work on google cardboard or it is just for the GearVR at present?

Thanks
