I had fixed upon dual Zotac GTX 970 reference cards configuration.
But then I came across the Gainward GTX 970. Which is 15% cheaper than the Zotac.
I dont mind saving some cash and putting it on other parts....
But I haven't heard of Gainward before. Do they make reliable GPUs ?
Anyone had any bad or good experiences here ?
Gainward has a single fan, and Zotac has a dual fan. Will that make alot of difference in terms of heat and rendering speed ?
Thanks for sharing guys.
Gainward GTX 970. Any opinions ?

Haven't heard anything bad 'bout Gainward GPUs. Reference design cooler might even be better for Your needs (than dual fan non reference one) if You're going to have two cards side by side.
There's nothing bad to cut some price on those & reuse that for getting better PSU or Motherboar.

Yup ill be putting them side by side. And there are no plans for OCing. Guess single fan should be alright.
After digging deep, I've just found coil whine issue with the 970s. But thats a problem with all the 970s.
So I will have to live with that.

970s have a 6+6 female connector. But the PSU has 4 cables of 6+2 male connectors.
Is it alright if I use the 6 pins only and let the 2 pins hanging in the air ?
Is it safe to run 1 GPU with 2 PSU cables ?.. which means Ill end up using all 6 pin male connectors for the 2 GPUs.

Never heard the 'coil whine' issue with mine.
Peter.

I had 2x580 from Gainward (non reference). They had f...d up power delivery system and I RMAed both of them.
I also had EVGA (2x680) and Asus. Only Asus never failed (but evga was also great). After what I experienced with gainward I'll never go back to it. Sorry.
