Hi guys

finally today I did a comparison between a system with one GTX580 and one K20

The comparison was done with Octane 1.0 demo
the scene examined was "scatter"

one single GTX 580 reported 1.7M samples/sec

one single K20 reported 2.34M samples/sec (ECC disabled)

one single K20 reported 2.10M samples/sec (ECC enabled)

Unfortunately Octane standalone (the kernel) is not optimized for the GK110, Vray-RT and Arion Live are optimized yet.

the performance from it compared to 580..
Maybe after some optimisations..

are You looking to getting one?

cheers

it's difficult to decide...

the K20 is only 1,37 times faster than the GTX580

the price is:
2.492€ for a K20 5GB
490€ for a GTX680 4GB

the K20 value is 5,08 times more than a GTX680

This means that I can assemble 4 systems single cpu with 4 GTX680 each

Thanks so much for this. I've been eagerly awaiting results for this card.

Yeh that's disappointing. I was hoping if the new Geforce titan rumour was true we'd get between 2-3 times speed increase over 580. But with the GK110 being so unexplored it might be something that octane doesn't even tap into yet because the team have never used it.

Be interesting to hear developers comment on it. They says they can't push the GK104 any futher, but maybe they can with the GK110.

Just to compare, did a quick test with a Tesla K10 in the same scene. And i got 2.43 (ECC Enabled) 2.75 (ECC disabled)
