Hi everybody,
i'm glad to publish the version 2.22.2 which is based on Octane sdk 2.22.2.
This is a test version before releasing and fixing all possible problems.

Fixes for 2.22.2 Test3

Changes for 2.22.2

- fix for extra vram usage
- A turnaround for node storage for node editor system. Node editor has been completely revised again, sorry for confusion.


Changes for 2.22.1
- SDK 2.22.1 BASED

Additional changes of 2.22.1 which are relevant for the SDK:
- The option "Start after beauty" in the render passes node is disabled by default. We would prefer to do the info passes at the end, but for network rendering it's better to do the rendering of the info passes during the main rendering, since the info passes are rendered only locally.
- Fixed crash on OSX during startup by disabling some Lua initializations (see http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 77#p227577).
- Fixed crash when a material is downloaded via the ApiDBMaterialManager and the assets are unpacked into a directory (see http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 40#p227640).[/list]


Changes for 2.22.0
- SDK 2.22 BASED
- New camera parameters for stereo rendering on panoramic camera.
- New f-stop parameter on camera tag.
- Removed default texture creations on mix material/scatter/displacement/medium nodes to avoid memory leakings.
- Stability and functionality improvements for Node Editor. Zoom support.
- Performance improvements for geometry update.
- C4D Colorizer shader emulation.
- Check geometry option is enabled by default.
- Storage of plugin settings has been moved to scene structure avoid some export problems.
- Fixed alpha problem on files wich is save as indivual render passes.
- Added main pass option for render passes.
- First version for mograph color shader. It cannot work with render instances.
- Experimental Mograph emulation for several mograph generators and mg color shader and multi shader. Currently it's still in development and does not works on render instances.
- Changed "Start after beauty" parameter to disabled by default. It avoids to the render progress issue for info passes on animation rendering. I advice to change that should be disabled on your old scenes.

- how to get render layer for some objects?
put a octane object tag to desired objects. activate object ID and set layer ID as 2. go to render layer section then activate and select layer id as 2. select some shadow or reflection passes from same section. you'll see some on screen buttons on live viewer to switch between.
also you may need to activate alpha channel on kernels. also may need to set on show alpha command from LV's menus.
colored shadow will works with specular material's fake shadows.

-to get object masks for multiple layerS, check render settings -> render layer masks. no needs to activate render layer for this functionality. plugin will do all operations for that.

- Documentation and samples will be updated soon.

Note about "new.c4d" or "default.c4d" usage. If you have this scene as startup which is done by old version. Please create new one with current version to avoid a warning window.


IMPORTANT INSTALL NOTES:
Due to the switch to CUDA 6.5 you will need a current graphics driver of version 344.x or higher. On Mac OSX you will need a CUDA driver of version 6.5 or higher (see http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html). The minimum supported version of Mac OS is 10.7.
Also matching version of Standalone 2.22 is highly recommended.
And remove all old plugin files before installing. Any version conflict or old drivers can cause crashes

I need to know that plugin version/Os/HW, bugreport zip. Last operations before crashes.

The new Octane plugin still shows the version number 2.22.0 and my problematic scene is still not rendering either...

ok i'll fix the version number. That's my mistake. But this is not a plugin issue. What's you triangles count?

hi,
it seems that the new version needs a lot more memory for geometry.
this is a huge alembicfile with aprox. 12 Million tris.
version 2.21.1 uses 1.774 GB
Version 2.22.1 uses for the same setup 2.672 GB

I appreciate the fast development.
Missing primitive sphere on rendering picture viewer
I think if you tick off perfect sphere in the attributes it will work as a workaround!

I got some behaviour some times that is not strictly reproducible.
When I sometimes reload the scene octane keeps on rendering over the old image and does start with a clean slate.
It looks like as if you overlap two picture layers in PhotoShop and increasingly adjust the opacity in the above one.

Its not a big thing. I just anted to let you know about it.

Hi raphael,
I see. I think this new sdk has still some glitches. If anyone has irritating problems, should stay on previous versions until it's fixed.
