Changes in 2.16.0059
- Added missing Roughness pin to Diffuse material node. (2.14)
- Implemented Object Layer support. Object Layer settings can be enabled on instances, groups, and replicators.
- Fixed problem with Stopping the render.
- Fixed problem with visibility on replicators.
- Integrated with Octane SDK 2.16
- Added Cast Illumination setting to emitter nodes. (2.15)
- Added Surface Brightness setting to emitter nodes. (2.15)
- Added Invert setting to Polygon Side shader (2.15)
If you don't know, object layers are used to hide objects and their shadows. You can have an invisible object that casts a shadow, or a visible object that does not cast a shadow. The seed value is used when you use the octane random color shader. Object layers differ from the Carrara 'Visible' property in that instances not marked 'Visible' are removed from the scene and cannot cast a shadow or affect lighting in any way.
The object layer is an effect on primitives, groups, replicators, and mesh emitters. When the object layer is enabled on a group it affects all the instances within that group unless an instance (or sub group) has the object layer enabled. Enabling an object layer on a replicator (or mesh emitter) affects all the instances created by that replicator or emitter. The source instances for a replicator/emitter are not affected by the object layer of the replicator. Instances that are nested within another instance in the instances tree in the assembly room do not use the object layer of the parent instance. This is in line with the use of the Carrara 'Visible' property.
Pending any issues with this release I will be marking it stable in a week or two and generating a new Demo version.
ATTENTION: This version is based on Octane 2.14. That means you need to update your NVIDIA graphics drivers to at least version 344.x
Happy Rendering...
