I'd like to share something here with with You. Recently I've wrote a short introductionary article about HDRi Sky usage in Octane Render featured on Peter Guthrie's website. In the article/tutorial You'll also find free scene (.orbx file) with pair of maps kindly provided for free. We all know Peter Guthrie's Exceptionally High Quality of architectural visualisation, but also he's know by top Quality HDRi skies for lighting.

& here is the fun part, Guys! - Peter is looking what You can do with any of his maps in Octane Render (Standalone or plugin, even demo version!!!)

Post the best pictures You can make bellow for a chance to be featured on His site. You got time till the end of April to post Your best shots! & check this out:

"OK, how about the 10 best images get 100 euro voucher to spend on whichever skies they want?" - Peter Guthrie

UPDATE: we just got OTOY in with 3x OctaneRender Licences!

Time is ticking: I’ve updated countdown clock (on the front page of my site) – the event ends with spring - midnight by IDL (GMT/UTC -1200)

P.S. it should be architectural, but could also be abstract.. Good Luck for All!
P.P.S avoid any text on Your shots (only small logo, signature, name..)

Hi, Nildo =) those are from HDR - & I'd say that's the best way (fastest & best looking) to get nice clouds =) join the competition & You'll have a chance to get some for free =)

However, if You want to get good looking 3D clouds check what Guus Thissen is doing with his Phantom Scatter - one of new functions is Clouds =) but keep in mind You need a lot of computational power to calculate those noise free =) check this thread on forums to learn more: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 50#p225497

P.S. Honestly, Phantom Scatter in insanelly valueable tool,
it cost way to little for it's functionality! =) & Guss updating it regularly bringing new useful features.

Nice one Tom!
Good to see Octane being featured on Peter's site.

One thing you could add is the possibility to enhance the contrast between light and shadow by raising the gamma of the hdri a little bit.

Thanks, Rob. I actually mentioned that =) & side effects too (it's good way to sharpen shadows, but it doesn't work if You have a lot of reflections & let's say visible portion of sky =)
