This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Poser, build 1.23.0.11 (TEST RELEASE) onwards. This version is compiled against Octane 1.23 (or above), so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.
Pls do not save scenes with this version that you may need to open with the 1.20 version of the plugin (ie. make a backup first), since the pz3 file WILL NOT be backwardly compatible.
The move to Octane 1.23 (and the requirement to be able to export to Octane Standalone) required rewriting major parts of the plugin, so a huge thanks to Wim and Zay who suffered through a couple of weeks of testing.
This version runs on Poser9/PoserPro2012 and Poser10/PoserPro2014, on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.
If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 64 bit (Msg me if you need 32 bit)
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Poser version (Poser -> Help -> About Poser) - list the build number (eg. 9.0.3.23027)
- OctaneRender for Plugin version (ie. X.XXa)
- Also have ready a copy of the octaneplugin.log and cuda.log file from your Poser temp direction (Poser -> Edit -> General Preferences -> Misc tab to find the temp directory)
- config.xml, which is in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro\9 for Poser 9/2012 and C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro\10 for Poser10/2014.
Change Log from release 1.20.2
- Compiled against Octane 1.23
- Node types changed names
- Texture mapping options for image and procedural textures (UV, spherical, linear, etc)
- "Highlight backfaces" option for Infochannels kernel
- New rightclick menu option in the Settings tab to export the entire scene to OCS (Octane Standalone) format - only available if the Viewport is open. So export to OCS, render in Standalone, while you work on other scenes in Poser!
- Image, Floatimage and Alphaimage "scale" pins are not compatible with Octane 1.21 so will not be loaded from existing pz3 files. If texturemaps are out of scale for a particular material, "Re-Import From Poser" that material.
- Added visibility options to each Figure and Prop in the Material tree.
- New Octane error reporting system (tracks far more error - errors posted in the Cuda Log available from the Devices tab.
- Textures now have projections other than just UV's - so you can change the texturemapping of existing Poser props - very handly
- Added menu option to clear a background image if one has been set
- Removed the "Reconnect Texturemaps" menu option. Instead, when the plugin is opened, if it cannot find a texturemap, the texturemap is searched in the requested search path. If a previous search path has been enter, it is searched first. If you click "Cancel" when specifying the search path, the dialog will no longer popup for that scene load.
- The Viewport size now saves with the pz3 file
- Added configuration option to force Octane to calculate the normals for the entire scene. This is partially implemented, and 0 = use Poser normals, and <> 0 = use the smoothing angle set in Octane Standalone
- The Compress Texturemaps script now closes once a compress has been done - in order to let Poser finishing processing the changes to the texturemaps. Rerun it if you need to do additional compressions.
- It is strongly recommended that you delete your default rendertarget settings (delete C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Poser Pro\10\defaultrendertarget.por) and recreate them again in the plugin. This will ensure the new daylight structure is saved in your default rendertarget
Still TODO
- Allow Pasting to disconnected nodes
- When pasting with "Keep Texturemaps", just keep the texturemap and replace the transform, power, etc.
- Implement subd processing for props (only implemented for figures at the moment)
- Specular map image power defaults to 1 at the moment for skin materials with specular maps. Probably should be about 0.2.
- Update plugin header graphic
- Export materials to OCM format
- Fix when camera zOrbit is non-zero, AND using large xOrbit and yOrbit values puts the Octane camera out of rotation synchronisation
Known Issues
- Loading a LiveDb material pops an Octane/Cuda error, which you can ignore. This will be fixed in the next Octane API release.
