This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Poser, build 1.17a (TEST RELEASE). This version is compiled against Octane 1.17, so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.

This version runs on Poser9/PoserPro2012 and Poser10/PoserPro2014, on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Poser version (Poser -> Help -> About Poser) - list the build number (eg. 9.0.3.23027)
- OctaneRender for Plugin version (ie. X.XXa)
- Also have ready a copy of the octaneplugin.log and cuda.log file from your Poser temp direction (Poser -> Edit -> General Preferences -> Misc tab to find the temp directory)

Change Log from release 1.16a
- Compiled against Octane 1.17
- Added material picking (enable in the Viewport buttons and then click on the Viewport to pick the material)
- Fixed issue with filenames/folder names with special characters in the image, alphaimage and floatimage file selection dialog
- Fixed issue with foldernames with '&' characters corrupting the config.xml file
- If you select a parented or shadow camera whilst rendering, the viewport will continue rendering the previous window (whereas previously it would close the Viewport). You cannot open the viewport whilst viewing a shadow or parented camera though.

This version does not address the bump map power being set to default when pasting keeping original texturemaps - but I will look at it very shortly.

Known Issues
None

When right clicking in the material list [Geometrygroup] and pick "Export all material for this figure/prop" I get this error:

Code: Select all
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2012\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\SetupForm.py", line 1672, in MenuSelectionCb
  File "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2012\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\MaterialManager.py", line 1326, in MenuCommand_ExportMaterialCollection
KeyError: 'scene'

Strange as I use PP2014

When right clicking in the material list [Geometrygroup] and pick "Export all material for this figure/prop" I get this error:

Hi Zay - you should not be able to export an entire scene - I will disable that menu option for the "scene" tree item.

Crap :) Thought it was some kind of workaround for not being able to merge scenes together with saved materials.

Still the naming problem of the figures and props holding this off?

Poser is really not designed for integration and merging of scenes. I believe some of the figure/prop renaming issues have been resolved with Poser 2014, and I will investigate to see what is possible.

Have you tried saving the Octane materials back to the Poser Materials of the scene that you will be importing?

Tiny update has been uploaded - download from the link at the top of this thread.

1.17a2
- Fixed issue where rightclicking the "scene" node would give options to export materials.
- Fixed issue where paste/import RETAINING texturemaps was not retaining the "invert" pin value

Yes, that has been an issue in 1.16 too.
Wanted to report that yesterday, but then - forgot...

You guys are right - it was not able to save a couple of node types to the Poser material. I have refreshed the installer to hopefully resolve this.

1.17a3
- Fixed issue where certain nodes types were not saving to the Poser material
