Just refreshing the scene makes it start.
This happens also when you start the plugin (which should read the entire scene since it has all the changes), but the viewport render opens and does nothing. Press refresh and then it goes.
If nothing was changed in the plugin this must be caused by the new octane version

No big problem, just something to look at
Hi,
thanks for the hint to just refresh. I had the same issue, but only the first time after booting the computer.
So far I always closed Poser completely and reopened it, after that rendering starts as usual.
This is since 1.02.

Currently postprocessing settings are not saved, but also no big deal, as I usually experiment a lot with the settings. It's a nice thing that you don't have to redo the render for a different glare/bloom setting.

I combined the BB EnvSphere with an alpha map and got a combined environment map / daylight effect, which is quite useful for the bloom/glare effect. I think that was asked for by a lot of people. I upload a thumb for that (larger render in my Rendo gallery).

Best regards,
Michael

I didn't believe you, but I just checked - and you a right! Actaully, the postproc settings are saved - however they are not being loaded correctly. I will fix this in the next version.

EnvSphere + alpha - that's a good idea!!!! I never thought of that.

How do you set that up? Did you create a special alpha map for it so the daylight gets through?

Hi,
yes, I used gimp to set all areas of the sky to transparent. The "Fuzzy select tool" was major help in that process.

Best regards,
Michael

Ok, thanks. That isn't too bad I guess - you can get by with a few sky textures and you can eliminate the sun as well and keep the clouds a bit transparent so the light gets through and rotate for variation.
Cool idea!

One more question regarding this
Have you found a way to get rid of the artefacts (showing the mesh) with a skydome/sphere?

Was playing with instance when I got this error when moving a slider.

If I save the scene after getting this error I lose all the instances settings.

Thanks Zay

For the first error - did you happen to get the cuda.log file?

There was nothing in the cuda log other than the usual "Opening OctaneRender for Poser Setup Dialog".

These are random errors but I get them now and then.
