hi! after release i had some time to do a little work with the plugin myself (is always different than specific testing), and think i have seen a similar issue - 'am looking into it...TakashiKurashima wrote:I used Live DB Material to some surface , but sometimes the material not changed in my environment.

known issues extended:
- the smoothing is still not working as expected - means handled by the plugin. my misconceptions was that this would be possible, but in fact it isn't; it should be possible for final and animation rendering (where it currently won't work, until you set interactive to "on"), but it isn't possible for normal rendering, since ds (currently) doesn't report back if it has finished smoothing something in the background - means you need to click reload if interactive is set to off to make sure all smoothing changes are transferred to octane.
[edit]: i just had a talk with daz, and there might be a chance to get automatic reloads after the background process is done. if possible, it'll be part of the next update.
- animations: still tend to stop at some point for some ppl (just not because of the same reason it did last time); sadly not for me, even a thousand++ frames overnight render fine here, so it's a bit hard to track down that new issue. what would help are some reports if it works for you or not, and if you have one ore more gpus working, and/or if you render on a gpu, that is for display also.
- map reload / auto reload after edits: there is a file missing (that would be normally created on disk when the plugin starts), what breaks that functions. i have appended it here - please extract it into your ...\DAZ 3D\DAZ Studio 4\resources\OctaneRender\ folder, and it'll work as described (note: it really needs to be called "dummy.png"

Thanks for the update. I have just installed it but I've noticed some changes while launching the program and opening my scenes.
The positive: A crash I would get when loading saved dynamic clothes animations seem to be gone.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/20478/#332344
https://bugs.daz3d.com/view.php?id=50404
The negative: After this update opening DAZ Studio takes longer than before. Also, is there a way to change the Perspective 1.5:1 "Custom" viewport preset that loads to "Active Viewport"?

- also do you open with a blank scene, or a default scene?
- can you pls check, if this is different if auto mats/live geometry is set to off when starting=
i'll think about what i can do with the ar setting; would an option to start octane with another ar help?
another possibility would be to leave that setting alone until it is need (i.e. octane viewport opened for the first time); sadly i need to sync that settings, otherwise the cameras won't be in sync (plus some side effects).
i might again look for a possibility to sync that bi-directional, but whenever i tried it ended in an update loop at some point...

The behavior changed since the first time I installed it. The first time I reopen it took a long time, it just stayed with the loading Genesis window stuck so I had to force close Studio. Then I reopen Studio and after awhile got a black viewport but my scene tab showed that Genesis had been loaded. Now it does like the video shows. It loads normal but Genesis won't show up until I click on "Frame camera".t_3 wrote:- can you somehow describe how much longer?SimonWM wrote:The negative: After this update opening DAZ Studio takes longer than before. Yes, that seems to be it. It doesn't happens when auto mats/live geometry is set to off when starting.t_3 wrote:- can you pls check, if this is different if auto mats/live geometry is set to off when starting=
Sorry, what do you mean with "ar"?t_3 wrote:i'll think about what i can do with the ar setting; would an option to start octane with another ar help?

ar is aspect ratio; i have 2-3 options; the latter would of course keep the plugin from change the daz resolution settings, but i'm not sure if it can be done. 2nd one would be to change the daz resolution setting as need not before octane is used to render e.g. the viewport is opened - but at this point it's a mus. 1st would have been to i.e. save the last used resolution/aspect ratio settings in the plugin to the user settings, so that after opening again you have not 1.5 there but whatever used the last time.SimonWM wrote:The behavior changed since the first time I installed it. thanks for checking the settings out - one more please... is it auto mats or live geometry or indeed both that cause a slowdown when starting with the default scene?
one more question: has the genesis in the default scene a smoothing modifier applied?
ps: the video is marked private (can't watch it)...

thanks! have seen it now. seems like initializing live geometry lets ds miss some updates...

>> is it auto mats or live geometry or indeed both that cause a slowdown when starting with the default scene?>>
I unchecked "Automatic geometry updates "Live" mode" and that seems to have solved it.

It has Subdivision Level 1 but this is the default scene that ships standard with DAZ Studio 4.6. I haven't changed anything.

Sorry I thought I've changed it to unlisted. Its unlisted now.

ok, thanks; it is most probably ok to turn it on later from the viewport and again off before closing ds. i'm sure this will be fixed in the next update (not aiming for a 6 weeks delay this timeSimonWM wrote:I unchecked "Automatic geometry updates "Live" mode" and that seems to have solved it.

shutting down threads, please wait is all i see
This happens when I try to load an old .daz file, so I thought it was that. I restart DS and decided to close it to get the 4.6 update and I get the same message eventhouh nothing has been done at all yet.
Will see if 4.6 update fixes it.
