Hi,
the ale, mbic is a sequence of 150 frames pf Phoenixfd liquid simulation.
If you open it directlyt or import in Modo the only way to see it correctly is to import it
with the first option of Modo Alembic import:Modo mesh with streaming Alembic deformers.
If you select the abc item you will see the mesh.

As you can see from my screenshot Modo renders it but Octane doesn't (propably is not a freezed mesh)

So i was curious if there was a workaround to let Octane see the geometry...

Ok Iv found a solution!

if you create an empty mesh layer and add a procedural op MERGE MESH
and you give as an input the Phoenix liquid file the operator Freeze it in real geometry and octane sees it!

I add a screenshot to explain the process.

Hey there,
this works, but you are loosing motion blur. On the other hand using the alembic file doesn't let you use the octane properties like layer Id and the visibility options. You can use proxys to render alembic files, but there are problems too (time shifting and changing materials from within modo). So there is no perfect way at the moment to use alembic files. It would be great if this can be improved!

All the best
