OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Blender render layers support is implemented for still- and animation-render modes.
  • Minor fixes and improvements...

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

WOW!!!! I really asked the developers exactly this feature (render layers), and now will be tested! Thanks! Very necessary!

i've tested. guys! Its working, but there is one specialty.. Sun and global lighting is on the layer 1. I can understand. But if i contain for example a object on layers 2, 3 without meshlights sun does not illuminates him. If i create a meshlight on this layer i can see that sun illuminates the surface.

U can see in example file "example layers with meshlights" sun illuminate all layers, in file "example layers without meshlights" i delete all meshlights, so sun illuminate only 1st layer objects

Here is an example of cycles render layers.

As you can see - Light affects on all layers. Normally, it must be so, for example if I want to render the fog with the shadows from objects away from the objects.

These are Blender render layers implemented in this version, not Octane engine render layers - this is stated in the description:

That means - these layers are supported on the higher level than Octane engine. Just the objects belonging to all the chosen layers are loaded into the engine for rendering if you use Blender layers mechanizm. The other objects just do not exist in the rendered frame during its rendering.

If you need the native Octane engine layers - there always was the different rollout for this: "Octane render layers" plus the layer number that can be set to the mesh object.

The difference of native OctaneRender layers - you can't select more than one layer rendered at one time.

JimStar, thanx! I know about this feature. And used it. But I have no good result.
If i render 2nd OCTANE layer (as on your screenshot) with my volumetric material cube (which belong to the 2nd Octane layer ) - i have a black render of 2nd OCTANE layer (vers. 2.23.2 - 9.2 Win [TEST]). So as you can see sun and global light don't influence on OCTANE layers 2,3,4,5... too.

How internal Octane layers work - is nothing to do with the plugin. It is how this is implemented in current version of Octane engine (2.23.2 engine in this plugin version).
Please discuss the engine-specific questions in OctaneRender standalone threads...

About "black" renders - be sure your camera focus distance is set to correct value or the object exist behind the autofocus point (if autofocus is enabled). I explained many times here - the "real world" camera can't be autofocused on the infinity or have the focus distance "0".

JimStarm, Thank you for all explanations, but problem not in it, let me explain in example:

1. This question is nothing to do with Blender render layers. I hardly can understand you when you are jumping between unrelated things...
2. The camera visibility works OK both in standalone and in Blender plugin. So, search the problem in your scene.

About your scene with Blender layers. Please don't forget what I've said you about the camera. The scene you shared here has the camera focusing set incorrectly, this is why it renders wrong in some layers.

Please check your scenes with the same settings in standalone first before asking here. If you see the same result in standalone - post the question in standalone thread, but if you see the different result - post the question here.

Please don't embed here the links to big size images - use this forum's "attach file" for that. I've edited this in your posts.
