OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Implemented LiveDB support for the new type of gradient texture.

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

I have a noob question: how do we turn camera motion blur on?
I have a scene with some movable proxies which are nicely motion - blurred, but other (global, not moving) objects are not blurred at all although the camera flies around them quite fast. I'm using movable proxies animation mode and internal motion blur.
I must be missing something... Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

EDIT: Subframe motion blur works ok, only internal doesn't take camera movement into account - is this normal?

hello all. Thx Jimstar for the new version.

I think I got a bug...

In the info-channel Kernel the Ambient Occlusion type doesn't work, it looks like "interpolated vertex normal".

cheers

Hello Jim!

Here is a question revisited that I wrote you in the very beginning of this plugins existence. Working in the stand alone I loved that I could change the imager and postprocessor options "post" render. If I remember your answer fairly correct it was not possible then, but maybe would be in the future with new features and changes to the architecture (node system?). With 2.0 a lot of stuff have happened with Octane and I thought it was interesting to put the question out there again. Are we any closer to be able to make changes to a render in Blender for Octane after the render is done? If not, will we ever be?

Is Blender 2.74 being implemented in a near release?

Happy programming!

Could be possible in the future export and import *.OCS scenes between plugin version and standalone?
I have to build every scene twice now. It's very annoying.
Second thing: import *.CSV files into plugin version.
I have bought Phantom scatter and files are not importable with plugin version.
I very don't like, that plugin version a standalone version are 2 different programs without any compatibility.
I never know which version to pick up for my future project ...

Thanks
Sorry my English.

+1 for scene export / import compatibility between Blender plugin and standalone. Do any of the other plugins currently support this essential feature?

I too would love to also see standalone's support for CSV text file instancing brought to the Blender plugin though the developer did address this topic in a previous post and explained why that option was missing. Too bad since Belnder's native instancing doesn't appear to be as flexible or as capable as Phantom Scatter. Then again if we at least had the ability to pass scenes between Blender plugin and standalone maybe we could then bring those instances from standalone into Blender?
