OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.21.1 - 7.3 Linux [OBSOLETE]

The Linux version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE

Added the workaround for 2.21.1 engine passes bug (sometimes passes rendering never ended). Now Blender will exit early in this case, so passes SPP value in some cases might be smaller than is set in settings. Will be fixed in next engine version.

Installation:
- Just run the installer to see its command line keys.

- If you need to run the OctaneServer - run it as daemon:

Is it on any scene, even on default cube?
Is it from this installer or Blender is compiled by yourself from git?..

Hello there JimStar

I got 3 bugs to report

1. I had mentioned this before, it must have been overlooked. Alpha image texture does not seem to work for bump. Only Image texture does. This cube is bumpy but when I connect the Alpha image texture node to the bump (it was the exact same jpg to it), the bump disappears and the cube becomes smooth again

2. I've been reading about the SSS mat and how to use it. I've tried it and although I made it work, some settings seem to not function. When I copied my scene to Octane Standalone I realised they do work there. I am talking about the Absorption & Scatter colours... in Blender they behave as set to 0 for both. You can see the comparison of the pic in bug 2 and bug 3. I got the same settings, they should produce the same result

Also the scatter direction set to -1 should make the transmission colour disappear because I got the view-port on the opposite side of the lamp. The direction does not seem to affect anything in Blender and neither on Standalone too

3. Standalone Octane 2.17 64bit linux
(I post this here cause it has to do with image comparison of bug 2)
As you can see I got both absorption and scatter colours set to 0.5 RGB... but when I click on the colour to open up the colour picker they read as 0.7297401 RGB inside it, setting 0.5 there, make the node inspector turn to 0.2176376. Is that normal? Does it have to do with linear correction or something?

Are you sure the OctaneServer running is the same 7.3 version as the running Blender Octane version? The server prints to the console its version right after start...

I was getting the similar errors when I tried to compile Blender for 7.2. I think my problem was that I didn't run "make clean" before running "make". I rebuilt Blender for the plugin version 7.3 and now I'm getting this error:

Ok,I re-downloaded the new version of Blender Octane edition, installed and started according to the information, this is the result ..
