OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Internal motion blur is implemented. Subframe motion blur feature is not removed: now you can choose between "Internal" (faster) and "Subframe" (more universal).
  • Fixed bug: grainy image in frames without any changes if subframe motion blur was used (reported by aLeXXtoR).
  • Minor fixes...

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

I had this Error:
Zuschneiden.jpg
Solution:
Download the Blender 2.72b Zipfile from blender.org and copy MSVCR120.dll, MSVCP120.dll and vcomp120.dll from that Zipfile to the same Folder of Blender Octane Edition.

Kind regards
Alain

I already signaled these missing dll in the previous version... maybe too late just before this release.

Tested a simple Scene with a Carpet (Particlesystem distributes a Carpetpatch over a Plane).
It works when I set the Emission Number to 10.

But when I set it to only (!) 100, then the hole Operationssystem gets very slow, almost frozen and it seems not to render (I did restart the Computer after >5 minuntes of waiting).

Here is the File:
Blender_Octane_Carpet_Test_01_291114.zip
(1.6 MiB) Downloaded 237 times
Basic question: Instancing is supported, right ?

Please tell me what I do wrong.

Kind regards
Alain

PS. Im using the DEMO Version of Octaneserver 2.x

Hi Alain,
Set your carpet patch mesh type to Scatter, as in the screenshot below.

Hey! Just tryed to composite with alpha chanel (quick test).
As you can see in the rendered viewport there are white borders around my objects (not everywhere).
When saving the alpha-sequence and composite it in an other application, the white borders are there, too.

What can i do against that?

Greets,
dafassi

Hi dafassi,
Do you have Premultiplied alpha turned on?

Wondering why this is under the camera menu- not under the render-settings?
