The OSX version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

This is the little quick-fix release. It is actual for OSX only, nothing new for other OSes...
FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed bug: crashed in some cases when adding new image texture during Live-Render active.
  • Reworked translation of modified geometry (to address the bug reported by aLeXXtoR).

Installation:
- Just run autoinstaller file.

Hi Jim.
I just ran the .pkg and all I can find is in my "Applications" folder is the OctaneServer executable. Where is the blender (octane) executable located?
Also, when I run Octane 2.06 standalone I'm getting the error "no cuda GPUs", but this didn't happen with 1.55. Is 2.06 using a different cuda version? Is there a way to update Mac's nvidia drivers?

regards,

Alvaro

If you already have blender.app file anywhere on your machine - OSX installer will not install the one from the package. Stupid "logic" in my opinion.
You must remove the blender.app files from other places of your system - then the installer will install blender.app too.

About the GPUs - some archaic CUDA versions were dropped in new Octane releases.

Thanks a lot JIm. I already installed newer cuda drivers and now with version 6.05 my GPU is showing up fine again. Off to try the new octane-blender version.

Alvaro
