The Linux version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Network rendering
  • Displacement mapping
  • Hair and Fur
  • Rounded Edges
  • Random Color texture
  • Improved Sky rendering
  • Region Rendering
  • OpenSubDiv support
  • A lot of minor improvements...

Installation:
- Just run the installer to see its command line keys.;)
- If you need to run the OctaneServer - run it as daemon:

I upgraded to version 2 knowing I'd get ver2 plug for free... how do I claim my ver2 blender plug?
Thank you :)

You should definitely get in contact with [email protected], they should be able to help you.

Jim - I found a small bug. If you are working with the hair particle system and you enable the child particles it works great. Until you set the children display to zero so the view port is faster, then when you render in the viewport the particles do not get sent to OctaneServer. Even if you have set the children render number to a positive one. Once I reset the display number, the hair particles would render normally. At the least I would expect that if you set the display children to zero that the viewport render would just render the main particles, but in this case it doesn't render any of them.

Thanks again, I'm having way too much fun. :D

This might be a rather large bug. I can't render an image with either the render image button or F12. It goes through the motions but all I get is a black image. In the header message it says that it's doing a "combined pass - rendering". I don't have the render passes selected so it shouldn't be doing render passes, unless I'm reading the message incorrectly. So I thought that I might have messed something up so I reset all the settings to factory and then tried to render the default cube with an Octane material. Same outcome, no image, just black. Am I doing something wrong? Rendering in the viewport works fine, just the final render doesn't work. :(
