OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed bug: crash on Linux during changing of some material attributes.
  • Fixed bug: wrong dispersion coefficient loaded into server from Specular material.

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

I have some question.
Is there way to convert maeterials/textures from Cycles/Internal to Octane Renderer?
There is scene with ~70+ materials with textures(for Internal/Cycles), and I need to convert this for Octane :/

Check the blender addons there is only one material addon that does get the job faster (hotkey Q if I remember it right)

Hi, there is a BI to Cycles converter addon.
May you can find a python scripter to rewrite it to Octane materials but it is a lot of work I fear.

Hello everyone,
I am really confused with Octane for blender. Could someone tell me in a few words, how can I export
a scene with materials and maps to Octane Standalone? Also, does octane support particle hair system?
Do I need to set an object or group as instance in order to make it work?
Thank you in advance for your time!

You can't. You can export alembic (for animation) or OBJ (for static scenes) and set your materials in Standalone.

This is 2.0 feature. Currently it works if you use Mesh object as a particle type.

Thank you! So if I want to export a carpet which consists of a scattered object, I have to convert it to mesh?

You don't need to convert it. You just have to set paerticle type to "Mesh" and set some simple mesh (e.g. small thin-long plane) there as the mesh object (don't forget to set Octane mesh type to "Scatter" for it).
You can also make your carpet using Displace feature in some cases. ;)
