OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Added "Visibility" options to geometry objects.
  • Textures server cache now refreshes on the server after texture file local modifications.
  • Added OpenMP support and some multi-processor optimisations to OctaneServer.
  • Now Blender checks the OctaneServer version to be compatible.
  • Added feature of creating and saving the Windows "crash dumps" by OctaneServer if you experience some crash. So, now you can post the files from "<OctaneServer install path>\Dumps" together with your reports.
  • Minor bug fixes...

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

Thanks for the updates, very nice work so far.

A couple of issues:
1. Would it be possible to add a tickbox for gpu priority like in the stand-alone app in addition to the used gpus?

2.Is there any way to force a particular object to scatter type?
Let's say that I have a particle system that I want treated as scatter and another that I prefer as global or movable.
Now the only way a particle system is seen as scatter (the correct way IMHO) is to force everything as scatter in the render panel isn't it?

In the current Blender Octane edition it seems there isn't any way.

Why do you think like that? It's not the right way. The global "force type" settings in "render" panel are made just as "hack" - for some rare usages...
The proper way is set this type inside of each geometry's properties. And you can set the same type to all selected objects using the button there...

Usually after reading the manual some more proper ways may be discovered, than just using "global set up".;)

Sorry, my bad, I skimmed the manual and for some reason the pages take forever to load. I was searching in the object properties tab, not the mesh properties tab. I works just as it should.

About that GPU priority thing.. could you at least look into it? It would be nice to have that extra GPU work without locking everything up. It's true, I can export it now to the standalone but on the other hand, if it's not too much work...

Thank you JimStar - object visibility options are going to be extremely useful for me! Unfortunately something went wrong...
After trying to turn the view to rendered mode, Octane Server crashes and the console says this:
network error.JPG
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Szymon

EDIT: Oops, sorry for bothering - it seems that a similar problem has been discussed some time ago  After crash Server needs to be restarted and then everything's fine.

Hey Jimstar,
Did this version address any of the Alembic problems people have been having, or did you figure out it was a problem with the stand alone?
