OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • New feature: now "Movable proxies" animation is fully implemented. In the very first draft, so you can test it...
How to use "Movable proxies" animation:
  • If you set "Animation mode" to "Full" - all geometry will be reloaded every frame. All meshes will be recalculated every frame, and all transforms will be reloaded, no matter what for type the meshes have. This is the most simple, robust, but slowest animation mode.
  • If you set "Animation mode" to "Camera only" - all geometry will be loaded in the first frame of animation, and only camera will be reloaded every frame. This is the fastest "camera fly" animation.
  • If you set "Animation mode" to "Movable proxies", you get most flexible animation mode, but most complicated to tune. In this mode, all "Global" and "Scatter" meshes will be loaded only in the first frame, and will not be refreshed in any of subsequent frames. For "Movable proxy" meshes - only transforms of these meshes will be reloaded in every frame. The more "Movable proxy" meshes you have (in comparison to "Reshapable proxy" meshes) - the faster will be the animation. It is usable if the meshes do not change its shape between frames and do not need to be recalculated by Octane. And for "Reshapable proxy" meshes - both transforms and mesh shapes itself will be reloaded every frame (meshes will be recalculated every frame by Octane). It is usable if you have some complicated animated meshes which change its shape between frames, but the more "Reshapable proxy" meshes you have - the slower will be the animation rendering.
All the same is true for Alembic export too.

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

DOWNLOAD (both distributives must be reinstalled, they depend on each other)

Hm, maybe I did something wrong. Deinstalled the old two apps, installed this. But now, when i render something in Blender and stop it (by using ESC), the renderserver doesn't stop ... it continues doing something (i guess just rendering, that continues). Blender will go back to editor etc, but the computer remains slow until I close the octane render server.

Hello, Jim

Is it possible to rotate HDR Environment Map with blender octane?
Nothing happens when I change the X and Y values in Octane rotate transform.

Thanks, I will check it.

Hello, Jim

What is the right way to install a new version?

1. Overwrite the old versions without uninstalling?
2. uninstall octane-server and octane Blender and install the new versions?

I think there is something wrong with octane rotation transform node when using HDRI maps.
How is it possible to rotate the HDRI map in horizontal?

Deinstall old, reinstall new. Its quick enough with blender & octane. It keeps my settings, though .. I hope that can't somehow corrupt something :)

I have been using the alembic export feature with great success. I have notice that both thinlens and orthographic transfer over to octane standalone but if i use the panolens in blender, the alembic node in standalone is without a camera pin.

So im not sure if the blenderoctane is not exporting the panolens data or standalone is not reading the panolens data in the alembic file?

Or some way to switch to the pano lens once in standalone.

Hi,

Try using Translation Transform instead of Rotation. It works for me.

Cheers,
Szymon
