OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • New 1.20.2 engine.
  • Blender 2.68a version.
  • Fixed bug - Octane World presets were not working.
  • Fixed absorption medium bug.
  • Fixed scattering medium bug.
  • Minor bug fixes...

DOWNLOAD (both distributives must be reinstalled, they depend on each other)

Blender Octane Edition - 1.20.2 - 1.5 beta (2.68a) (52.2MB autoinstaller file)
Octane Server - 1.20.2 - 1.5 beta (32.2MB autoinstaller file)

Hi Jimstar,

could there be an visual representation for the kelvin number included in the lights in the Octane Black body emission node, like the little color box in the Diffuse Mat?

Yes, I will add all the convenience-features later... After more important things will be done...

JimStar here is my bugs/fix/idea report as an (unofficial) beta tester :

BUGS/FIXES :
1) The default glossy on standalone has roughness value of 0.063 while on blender is 0.63
2) Something is wrong with Falloff: I am uploading my scene, the "wrong" matt is called "Axinar_body" and it SHOULD look something like "Axinar_body.001"... I took all the settings out of the standalone and while I was conecting the nodes it became a 100% white and when I was done connecting I got this weird purple... try to recreate the nodes into standalone and see for yourself [ http://www.pasteall.org/blend/23821 ]
3) Metaballs won't work, just make an empty scene add a metaball, add a 2nd one and blender crashes

IDEAS :
Many many times, even if I work ONLY with Octane in blender I still have to switch over to blender renderer cause there is where some button still function (buttons that are gone in Octane render mode!)
1) The post processing tab located under the blender button, I have to go there to switch composition and sequencer
2) The camera size (I use blender with scale 0.01 so the default camera is easy to be lost!) as well as the camera shifting
3) My scene is different! I think it's because I used to export it as .obj with scale factor 0.1 to use it in standalone... what should I do?
4) Now that we will have beta versions coming out put a little tooltip on the Octane Server that also mentions the version so that we know we uninstall the previous and installed the latest beta

PS : THAAAAAAAANK you for using the multi-thread version of blender this time!!! (Is it the 32 or 64bit? ) You ARE paying attention to our needs!

I know it's beta but I HAVE to use it for a pro work with a few days of delivery! I stumbled on all these things! lol too bad live-db will take much time

Hi,

Can I somehow export the .ocs from the plugin and use it with standalone Octane?

Thanks for the great work,

Cheers,

I just can't get this to work on big scenes. The previous version worked just fine but this time I am just staring at "Waiting for image..." It has been like that for 10 minutes now.

Looks like I'll have to go back to 1.2 in order to render my scene. 1.5 seems to work fine on small scenes.

Can you give me some scene where I can reproduce this difference?

EDIT: I'm just trying it on different heavy scenes with timer - no difference at all...
