The TEST Linux version of OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin, 64-bit.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one..
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

Installation:
- Just copy the files from archive to root file system (into the same folder-tree as in archive).
- Run the OctaneServer as daemon:
Code: Select all
# OctaneServer &

- Now you can start blender.
- If you got error messages that blender needs some libBlahBlah.so library - you can run the install_deps.sh script from installed blender folder with appropriate command-line keys. It will download, compile and install all needed libraries. If you dont want to install only the needed libraries - you can install all possible using --with-all key (but be ready it may take a lot of time to download, compile and install them all).

Do you have the "types.py" file in Octane addon folder? It seems that it is missing for some reason... Check it please.

And are you sure that you run it from the right installation?.. As I see the folder name is "blender-2.68a-linux-glibc211-x86_64", perhaps you have mixed the two blender versions, plain 2.68a and Octane edition 2.68 somehow?..

Yes. It is present. Files are aligned with the subject of the directory tree.

Thank you! The problem in this

UPD/ 2.68 does not solve the problem
UPD2 / Blender from the source archive is also not start. therefore combined the two "versions"

I will check it when will reach the office. Yes, it seems like the archive became corrupted after uploading to server...

Yep, the archive was broken.
I've just uploaded it again, then downloaded back, extracted and run both server and blender. All working OK now.
So, just download it again from the link in the first post.

Post here if you will still get some troubles with getting all working... Linux is full of troubles for end-users...;)

JimStar, archive is ok now.
I have a few suggestions for linux users:
Expand archive to a directory of your choice.
Copy liboctane.so and octane.dat to /usr/lib64
Leave other files where they are and make shortcuts on desktop to blender and OctaneServer.
In KDE you can extend shortcuts to "Open in Terminal", I have it for OctaneServer.
If you close the terminal OctaneServer is also closed, you don´t have to kill the process.
You can make a directory "config" in usr/local/blender/2.68 than you have a separate configuration for Blender for Octane.
Other blender installations are not influenced from settings you make for Blender for Octane.

Cheers, mib.
