OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin.

Image

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Changing some Octane values by arrow-buttons worked bad, fixed.
  • Fixed the issue with camera lens shift.
  • Fixed bug - Octane presets were not working.
  • Fixed "Color Correct" and "Gaussian Spectrum" textures bug.
  • Fixed "Fake shadows" bug in "Specular material".
  • Added "Aperture edge" and "Distortion" to camera settings.
  • Added "Spectral shift" and "Spectral intencity" to postprocessor settings.
  • Implemented current session statistics.
  • Blender is compiled with some additional modules enabled (e.g. Ocean simulator).
  • Minor bug fixes...

DOWNLOAD (both distributives must be reinstalled, they depend on each other)

Hi Jimstar,

first I wanted to thank you for the answers in the other thread. :)
I installed and tested the new 1.20.1 -1.2 version

when you have multiple Blender octane blends open and want to render simultaneously, it wont work anymore in this new build.

rendering with multiple blends would speed up the workflow, especially when linked Blends are used and you want to render and test yor materials while working on your main Blend.

the good thing about the old behaviour was also, that you could render 2 frames at the same time even on one graphicscard (only when you have enough ram)

will this feature of working and rendering and renderpreview with mutliple open blends be added back again?

There was no such feature in previous version too. And nothing was changed in this regard in 1.2...
Just in case, checked it on 1.1 version - you can't render in second instance of Blender, if the render session is active in first one.

oh how dumb of me :/ XD
sorry sometimes I should sleep more.

I actually used octane and Cycles at the same time while rendering and forgot to change to the Octane Render.

Great work JimStar,
Should we uninstall Octane server 1.1? to keep everything in sync?
Or will it install over 1.1 and update to 1.2?

Thanks for your time and efforts in polishing the plugin :)

Cheers,
~Tung

No, just install over 1.1, both server and Blender.

I think I've just found a bug. The direction of UVs appears to be 90 degrees to the way that Blender is showing them. i.e. I unwrap a plank of wood so that the grain is going along the plank but when I render it the grain is across the plank. Obviously this makes accurately unwrapping objects impossible.

Can anyone else confirm this?
