First of all I would like to thank Bro and all who contributed to Octane SU plugin. Great job! I'll be posting my comments in one topic, and if any of them are done I'll mark it.


1. Move along plugin causes SU crash when Octane is active. It crashes when I want to move and copy a group.

Can someone confirm it? MoveAlong is my default plugin for moving - I set M key to it.

2. Hidden geometry is not working on plains. Having to create a group is very painful for a fair amount of different hidden geometry. DONE

3. Two point perspective view is not being updated in the viewport when moving the view with O+shift key.

4. Is it possible to change settings values from the keyboard? Setting the values only having sliders is so hard especially when it comes to precision.
SOLVED But more intuitive approach like in Standalone would be nice.


5. Lock proportion for resolution is desired and + comment 4 = entering the values from keyboard.

6. Clay mode would be nice when I go to Monochrome mode in SU. DONE

7. Environment and Sun system based on the standalone solution is desired - map, location, humidity,.... Shadows in SU is so poor and slows SU drastically especially in large scenes. I don't use it at all. So independent settings for Sun location is desired.

8. SketchUV plugin causes crash. Selecting box faces and applying box map causes crash.

9. Font color is too gray - it should be black for better readability. Font size is too small and hard to read - see the screenshot. I suggest go with same size as in standalone and black on white or white on black.

10. Lock option for X Y Z scaling - it's been recently added in Standalone on my request.

11. Again comment # 4 is crucial - changing scaling values is so painful. I cannot literally change back the scaling values to 1 for X and Y. SOLVED

12. Lack of world and object coordinate space for projection modes.

13. Lack of Mesh UV projection (present in standalone).

14. I managed to get bumps and proper scaling only in built-in projection modes, i.e., box. When I delete the node (due to #13) I cannot scale the texture to get proper bumps - screenshot.

15. An option during exporting to .ocs where a user can decide whether to overwrite certain objs or only update scatter nodes.

16. Replacing a component by an obj proxy causes crash.

17. Export all scenes to render targets in ocs.

18. Curviloft causes crash.

20. Reduce precision of scatter data to 6 digits; 2.70879e-009 is just 0.

21. Ocs exporter does not create groups for SU layers, groups. It also does not create scatter nodes pinned to scatter nodes for nested components but rather exports them as one scatter node. This is so important.

Hello mate i dont use it, when i get the time i will install it and give it a go.

Never used before...cool thing, similar to lens shift but better. would be great to have it working :D

You can type the values with keyboard mate. (Fuzzy told he is working on a better menu layout)

We can now set the correct location in SU Geo-location . I use the SU sun setting, to adjust day, hour, gmt settings but i turn the SU shadows off (display) because i see them in Octane Viewport. - For what i can see the other way would be to have all this option in the "Envoyremnt tab" of Octane Menu.

Allready reported, it looks like some plugins have some compability problems.

Agree 8-) ...in my 15" laptop screen that is 1080p ... its really hard to read. :shock:

Oh I see :oops: - it is so unintuitive. I the Standalone when you click on a number its background color is changed and I know I can input value from keyboard. This should be similar.

Sorry Guys, but I am more and more disappointed of what I got :evil:

The list of remarks exceeded 20. Some of them are of major importance, like #21. There are too many crashes, the interface is hardly readable, the material system must be redesigned - I thought at least I'll use .ocs exported scenes and I'll work in the Standalone for final renders, but even there a manual work with TIG's exporter gives more control.

And there is no response. This should not be the case.

Hope someday I'll start using the Octane plugin for my work.

Which version of Octane, MoveAlong and SU do you have? Link to the plugin would help.

I do plan to update UX.

Could you provide an obj file that cause crash? Do you select "Replace Geometry"?

I don't plan to unify Octane4SU with TIG's plugin in any way.
.ocs/.orbx export is a side feature and simply exports internal structure of SU to Octane mapping. This feature never ment to replace TIG's plugin so you can choose which one to use.

Not sure what does that mean. Could you please specify?

- next realease will have the 2.05 version...if yes could we have GI clamp in PT and PMC kernel? that is an amazing new option in Octane.

other thing...
I don't remember if we allready talk about this.

- the ability to turn on/off the visibility of a specific object shadow. - that StandAlone option allow us to hide a object and keep is shadow or the inverse.

I'm telling this because at this time the plugin is closer to all my needs - I'm doing almost all my work inside SU and can't hold myself asking for this little functions.... hehehe

I will share a few more shots of other projects all made inside SU with the pluggin :-D.

Thank you for response. I am more and more convinced to use the plugin. I figured out that to get nested components working I just need to hide groups I don't want to export. The rest is done in Standalone.

I am just a little worried about consistency between the ocs exporter and TIG's plugin. I'll ask TIG if he can code an option to make his exporter consistent with the exporter.

#20 - if you look at data in scatter nodes in ocs exported to Standalone there are plenty of 0s in a very precise form.
