First of all - I KNOW that an iMac is not optimal when GPU-rendering. But I just happened to have an iMac 27 at work with GTX 680 2GB VRAM and cannot help my self trying to get it work for simpler rendering.
But I always end up in hard freezes and nasty stuff.
Se attached image - What the f*ck is going on?
It says I have 2GB of VRAM in total. I'm ok with that. I'm also totally aware of that the display eats some of this memory. And other programs running.
But in this case - I'm using 129MB of VRAM, but only 26 MB is free? Still no crash here. The crashes comes totally unexpected. For example when closing a material editor window, or adding new material.
iMac and VRAM trouble

Posted it in the overall thread just because it's not an explicit C4D problem.
Anyone got a clue? Is OSX allocating VRAM on iMacs on the fly or something?

Here's a dump from Device settings.
I've tried changing screen resolution, closing all apps but nothing changes the unavailable VRAM but for a couple of MBs.
What is allocating 1,5 GB?
