The OSX version of OctaneRender™ for Maya® plugin, 64-bit.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Version 2015 64-bit on OSX operating system (including and above 10.8).

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

I my case I am unable to render separate cube map faces.
The setting makes no difference.

I was hoping that I could render to the VR cube map.
Can't do that either.

Have you set the camera to "Panoramic"?

Scatter node?
JimStar... I see there is a scatter geometry type under the extra attributes.
How does one plug a scatter file into that node?

In-other-words can I load a scatter file and use it to distribute geom in Maya?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

The scatter geometry type is just for instancing, it works like the movable proxy geo type but instead of being re loaded every frame it will only be loaded on the first frame rendered. It is useful if you have a load of instances that are not animated and are rendering an animation. You set it on the base geo that you are instancing, just like you would movable proxy, and then instance that geo in any of the usual ways.

Ah thanks ... TBFX I got it.

Do you know of any plugin for maya that lets you load a data file that lets you "scatter" a bunch of instances according to the xyz in the data file?

Welcome any suggestions.

Thanks

Apologies for the delay in responding.

No I didn't have panorama set at the camera.
My bad. It does work.
