Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2012, 2013, 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit and 2014 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine

You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 359€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.


OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.


CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:
  • Fixed "Border mode" bug in image textures.
  • Fixed "Power" attribute of texture environment.
  • Obsolete rotation attribute removed from texture environment.

Don't know since when it's implemented but the reshapable proxy ist really nice! Its quite fun to finally see dynamics like nCloth changing and shaping directly in the render view without caching.

the hdri power option is fixed. a quick question, how do we rotate the hdri now since that option was rendered obsolete?

there is a slot named Transform in your Texture node. just connect a Full Transform or just Rotation Transform node I think

Camera settings are not obeying parameters from Film Back section like: Pre Scale, Post Scale or the Render Pan Zoom button. Will be helpful if this will be fixed. Thanks.

Hello everyone.

Special thanks to Jimstar for the hard work he did.
I don't have time currently to test the 1.33, but I already have some questions:

1. Is the object/shadow visibility function implemented in this version?
2. The shaders and the pipeline we developped are going to work with this one? I heard that the shaders are going mad because of changes in the node system.
3. Will the renderlayers work? Because I still have a lot of problems with them when rendering animation scenes which contains renderlayers. e.g, the rendering engine doesn't update when changing rendering layers (although it was checked with the layer override settings).

Hi JimStar,

While replying to another post I just checked and realized that we now have a phase attribute on the scattering medium node but after testing it doesn't appear to be doing anything yet. Is it supposed to?

Two things really.

First of all, I haven't been able to load any Maya plug-in since 1.5 in Maya 2012 (yet I've tried on two different computers) however the same installation works well in 2014, so if Maya 2012 is'nt supported you shouldn't list it as such.

Second, will support be added to implement older node behavious/connections in future releases? Is that something that's being worked on? Because I had spent some time setting up a couple of pretty complex shaders and we've been working on integrating them into our scripting pipeline, when suddenly I install 2.0 and things are.. Pretty broken..

Hi all,

i can't install on maya 2012 since 1.20 1.5 too. It works on maya 2014 but the mayabatch is buggy.
When you launch an animation you'll have skipped or buggy frames.

Unusable for animation !

Not that I'm expecting an answer, because customer support doesn't seem to be prioratized, but.. Is there some way to scale textures based on number of repetitions, like normal (as before)? Because the new transform-node(s) use scale, which isn't really optimal when I have a small tile I need to repeat specifically 30 times.
