Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®. Materials from the Live DB are currently not available.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 279€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 99€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses,
just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

Thanks Jimstar,

Only just tried caustic blur out this morning and I don't think it is doing anything, it doesn't change the render at all and does not force an IPR update when changed during an active render. Tested the same simple scene in the v1.0 standalone to see what should happen and it works as expected there.

Jimstar - this is for previous version but it may still be the same - I have found the RC to be quite unstable regarding mixed cards - IE 580 and 680.

Failed renders even on the first frame of command line rendering, and including IPR inside Maya. see image. Is there a way to continue the render on if a card fails?

It's how the engine behaves, so I can't do anything with it at the time... I will turn engine-team's mind to this topic...

Hello JimStar!

All in all i realy like your Render Engine!
But after working on some things i have some points to admit:

1. The Outline of the Rendering Material_ID is not clean.
See the attached Picture.

2.To optimise the Info Chanel for my kind of work it would be perfect when you add options like :
- Ambient Occlusion pass including modification tools
- Specular Pass
-Reflection Pass
-Refraction Pass
-Diffuse Pass
-Shadow Pass
-Light Pass
-Shadow Catcher

3. The Octane Light in Proxy mode has a diffrent luminosity than the same parameter with a turned on Proxy Mode.
See Jpg

4. Is it possible to have a Camera Image Plane while Render, and have Carpaint Mettalic that has a Flake Shader Option?

5. A Object Motion Blur would be awesome

6. To render Stills in His Res it takes quiet a while.
Can there be more speed?

7. And these Options would be very helpfull as well:
-Shave and a Haircut
-Fur
-Hair
-Real Particle, no Polygone

Thats all what i tought about while testing Octane.
I hope my Feed back is usefull for you.

Thank you for your notes.
The most of it is already known, and it is how current version of Octane engine behaves... But we all hope, that later engine versions will be much better in this regard - engine-team makes a huge work at the time and Octane progresses very fast...
