I have asked this before but did not really get an answer I think it deserves; Why have you set up the matte option as it is now in the later builds? Who want´s it to be this way?
To me it is totally useless and I have never seen a renderer / matte material, work this way.
As it is now, I have to render out two passes. one diffuse pass with the "shadow plane" hidden to camera, and then one shadow pass to get the shadow. The assumption that objects can get properly secondary light by a hdri image is to me very strange. or please, show me how to use this and how we get superior results.

Matte in Octane leaves much to be desired. Ive started making my animations Old Man Spice style where everything is in one scene and renders correctly without any post compositing except from colour correction. Its quite tedious.

Old way was much better, I need to see diffuse light bounces from matte objects, as well as their reflections.

+1 also we need a matte material option which can hide objects behind it and no shadow matter!!! I mean multiplies the alpha value of the pixel with its own opacity value.

No feedback on this from staff? Am I in the wrong directory here? Please Just tell if you are working on it or, if this is the way it will be?

How mate matte material works is not my decision and it wasn't done by me.
