Cont' on my tests on external eGPU:
Just test with the riser 1x by 50 cm USB 3.0 cable (about 10€) : it works well (test with a titan and also a 580gtx).
Edit : for the chinese riser extend to 35cm : it finally not work very well on heavy load. So stuck back to 18cm.
I will try to find something 4x riser (for amfeltec adapter) that go up to 50cm.

Final intégration of my eGPU system :

- external tower with 900W and autonomus watercooling.
- Amfeltec 4x to 4 PCIe 1X
- 2 Titan Black + 2 780Ti
- Watercooled : Delta T° at full load +13°C (20° ambient)
- 1x PCIe riser (50cm USB 3) available for the 5th GPU on the external tower.

- powering 2 titan black by the main tower (1600W already powering 3 titan + i7 3930K), the 780ti are powered by the external tower 900W (have enough room for another 780Ti).
- the synchronisation of two power supply is done by the motherboard (green wire), and not with a relai.
- consumption of the whole systeme on octanebench : 1450W on primary.

Oh Yes, I'm a fool .... :D
Thanks for pointing me to eGPU aspect in some of your post, and the I extend my searchand see that some pointing at amfeltec. After then I saw cheaper splitter 1x to four 1x for only 60€ (then add riser 1x to 16x for 10€) and that you have 4 slot available.
I'm not as crazy as Smicha : beautifull watercooled rig !

update for power consumption : I just measure the input power of the whole 2 rig :
- at standby (idle windows) : 260W
- at full octanebench : 1620W (up to 1700W peak)
- playing world of tanks : 550W (only 1 titan)

Wow! Great setup.

How much is for Amfeltec 4x to 4 PCIe 1X
3090, Titan, Quadro, Xeon Scalable Supermicro, 768GB RAM; Sketchup Pro, Classical Architecture.
Custom alloy powder coated laser cut cases, Autodesk metal-sheet 3D modelling.

~200$ pluss taxes & shipping from canada =)

Talked with a guy no so long ago utilising that & watercooling 4x 780 - seems liek a nice choise for those who can't put cards inside motherboard (being mITX, mATX or simple lower end atx with on or pait of PCIe slots =)

Thanx for sharing.
Do I understand correctly and the number is for 2x780Ti, 3 Titans and 2 Titan Blacks?
And all on watercooling?
Nice rigs, man!

Yes, that's right number and all watercooled. I'm searching for one more titan or 780ti as I have one more room and pci 1x ready. After then I don't know if it is possible to have more than 8 GPUs (in windows 10). I just need perhaps to powered the all external GPU (2 titan black and 2 780ti) with only one power supply that I can disactivate if not use for octane (when I play games for exemple).

I've got my egpu working, would it be possible to plug the "Amfeltec 4x to 4 PCIe 1X" and get 4 cards rendering?

Thanks,
cris

think I've already talked with someOne why tried that & it was not working for soem reason, but if You have pieces by You side =) try them..-this forum is a good proof where riser don't fit for one throwing errors, blue screens & such, while totally useful for other workign without any issues.
